EMPOWERING BEAUTY ENTHUSIASTS TOWARDS ENTREPRENEURSHIP
West Africa’s Only American Beauty School Celebrates Anniversary and Simplicity in Education
Accra, Ghana – 21st March, 2015 -- Striking smoky cat eyes with luscious eyelash extensions; Sexy pink pout with a pop of alluring lip gloss; Baby soft hands extended into classy French-manicured en-vogue claw nails; A clean, flawless facial complexion with bouncy curls cascading around one’s shoulders….
Things are changing. Just a decade or two ago, careers in the arts were still very frowned upon with becoming a lawyer, doctor and accountant being parents’ only desired surefire life paths for their children. It’s a slow change still, but more and more the impact of returnees (Ghanaians who left for abroad for some years of schooling and work who have returned home) and global infiltration, are opening varied work possibilities. Today with our country boasting a growing number of international fashion designers, models, movie stars, business men and women, everyone wants to look and feel good. Enter the world of beauty education. Having a university and Master’s degree are a natural course for some but many talented Ghanaians, may not be afforded these opportunities. Many end up doing jobs they hate when they could turn talents and passions into hard cash.
“Ghana is quite the beauty basket, teaming with working professionals who require a monthly manicure-pedicure and massage, college divas who love sporting the hottest nail colors and ladies who can’t live without facials and flawless make-up for everyday or special occasions. Who helps meet their needs? Well – professional and certified nail technicians, masseuses, make-up artists, hair stylists and facial therapists! And it doesn’t take a year to learn and become one. We aim to make beauty mean big business for those that desire it”, says Executive Director of Marie Noelle’s American Beauty School, Marie-Noelle Yakubu. She is CEO of Marie Noelle’s Spa and Salon that has been around for almost two decades – a true beauty and pampering services guru.
Marie Noelle’s American Beauty School opened a year ago in partnership with US-based Modern Make-Up Society, offering very affordable, fun and interactive 6-week courses across 6 disciplines to people looking to turn beauty into a successful career or side business. Led by American instructors teaching the simple and easy-to-grasp American way of beauty, the school located in Osu flaunts beautiful air-conditioned classrooms equipped with the latest in beauty-industry learning tools. Students graduate with a certificate and a portfolio of stunning pictures of their amazing work from a professional photo shoot to show prospective employers and clients. Internships at Marie Noelle’s Spa & Salon are also available to them to prepare them for the real-world with experience at a renowned establishment.
This April, Marie Noelle’s American Beauty School is holding its first course session for the year starting on the 10th and commencing by end of May.
