WHY AM I IN THE MALL TODAY?

I needed inspiration to write
I'd been home all day and I was bored and feeling quite grumpy
I needed something exciting, something to tickle my senses
So i got up,dressed up and embarked on that 5 minutes journey to the mall
I first went  upstairs to the bookshop, realised I didn't want to buy a book and left
I came downstairs and started walking about
I passed through the food court where people sat eating amid conversations, while others waited for their food
I felt like Alice in Wonderland
What was I doing here?
People passed by,tall,short,black,white,young,old
Some walked in pairs or groups chatting excitedly or just giggling
Life must be good i thought
Some walked slowly,others hastily
Others walked alone, busily pressing their phones, others seemed lost lol
I met a few people i knew, said hi and kept walking on
Finally, I found an empty space on a bench and sat down
I was in a daze, detached from my body
I watched the world from a stranger's point of view
The newly graduated senior high school students quite easy to identify as they made a "triumphant" entry into adulthood lol
Some were awkward and shy, others were obviously putting in their best shot to look as old as possible
Babies starting to fret and crying
Toddlers demanding God Knows What from their parents, others running around with their care takers in tow
Families out to have a good time
So why am I really here?
I looked up and noticed the plasma TV in the hallway,a fiesta condom commercial was being shown...."she'll want more" I smiled and looked away
More and more people passed by
I kept observing their facial expressions and enjoying animated conversations
I sat there and watched the world pass by
Intrigued by some of the things i saw and realising that i i had never really paid attention to any of this in the past
It was an invaluable experience for me because even as I asked myself why i was there, deep down I didnt want to be anywhere else
And it was PRICELESS

GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME

I had the privilege of going on a mentoring lunch date with Mrs Gloria Buckman Yankson,Senior Partner at PlanIt Ghana.

An amazing woman who exudes so much charm and positive energy that it becomes contagious.
You cannot have an encounter with her and give up on your  dreams.
That was the woman i met.

I'd like to share a few of what i learnt with you all.

It'll especially be beneficial to young, upcoming entrepreneurs but anyone no matter your field of endeavour can find it helpful.

  • First of all find your niche, something you love or something that really holds your interest.
  • Be ready to work hard. Hard work pays off in the end, surprise the people who thought you could not make it,leave no stone unturned.
  • Don't do free stuff, unless you are volunteering of course.
  • Accept criticism but don't take all advice. Listen more.
  • Spontaneous decisions are the best as compared to well planned ones. It's good to have a business plan or career choice, listen to your instincts too.
  • Branding and information should not be taken for granted, once you create a prestigious brand, people will be willing to pay for quality services or products. Make sure information about your brand is easily available. take advantage of the various social media.
  • Know your competition, but don't be distracted by them. Exclusivity is important,if you know what you've got it'll show, if not, desire to be different and set yourself apart. Remember no one can ever be you.
  • Strike a good relationship with everyone who walks through the door and everyone you meet, clients will keep coming back to you if you treat them with respect and make them feel important.
  • Be careful with money, don't let it get to your head. Once you start making some money, you might be tempted to over spend. Invest more of it.
  • If you are an entrepreneur and you decide to be the face of your brand, be careful with;- Associates, Decision, Actions.
  • Most importantly give back to society.

I hope you pick up a few tips here.

HUSH!!! WE TALKING SEX

                      LET'S TALK ABOUT SEX,BABY

Sex is supposed to be exciting, fun and enjoyable, but do most couples experience this?
As a topic that is usually discussed in private and under hushed tones, Sex and sexuality are obviously not an easy subject for discussion especially among young people.
Most couples do not even talk about their sex life,to know what the other person prefers and enjoys or does not enjoy.

I won't pretend to know more about sex and sexuality than you do,but which questions about sex would you love to have answered for you?
Or you have heard something about sex that boggles your mind.
Do you often ask yourselves some of these questions?
Questions like?????

At what age can one start having sex?

Is abstinence really the best option for single people?

Is sex just for procreation?

How far can a couple go when it comes to sex?

Is is true that people who are more comfortable talking about sex are also happier with their sex lives?

How are you supposed to feel the first time you have sex?

How does a couple communicate in bed without words?

Is it true men focus on the physical aspect of sex whiles women talk about it from the emotional point of view?

I'm sure you would love to get answers to these questions and many more others, meet the expects as they take us on a sex and sexuality trip this Friday at the Kama Conference Centre,Labone ,Accra, at 6:00 pm.

I am definitely curious about what would be discussed and i'm sure you are too.
Let's make it a date then.
See you all on Friday.

"EVERY WOMAN 2013" A FIGHT AGAINST CERVICAL CANCER

The Kultiva Group, a non-governmental and charity organisation in collaboration with The Cervical Cancer Unit of The Ridge Hospital, Accra, presents "Every Woman 2013", a Cervical Cancer Awareness programme on the 12th of may 2013.

Nana Ekua Asanteba Mensah, Roselyn Ngissah, Gloria Sarfo, Sherifah Gunu, Agnes Ntow and Zenaida Morrison, all Ghanaian female celebrities have endorsed this campaign to fight against Cervical Cancer, themed "What Every Woman Should Know".

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), Cancer of the cervix is the second most common cancer in women worldwide, with about 500 000 new cases and 250 000 deaths each year. Almost 80% of cases occur in low-income countries which includes Ghana.

A research conducted by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has shown that 3,038 women are annually diagnosed with cervical cancer and 2,006 women die from the disease every year. Awareness creation on this disease is however very low in Ghana. Health education, screening, vaccination and even early detection can help reduce the rate of mortality.

Cervical cancer is caused by Human Papilloma Virus and predominantly found in sexually active women below the ages of 45 years.

This programme which coincides with Mother's Day, seeks to educate, screen and create public awareness of the disease and will take place at the Regimanuel Gray Golden Gate Club House, Spintex Road, and is open to the general public. There'll be free screening for the first hundred (100) participants.

Dress code is a shade of PINK.

FINDING PEACE IN A WORLD OF CHAOS

Too many people want attention, not enough want respect
Too many people get lost in the crowd, not enough care to stand out
Too many people want the easy way out,not enough want to work their way through
The world can be pretty tough sometimes;
Failed promises,dashed hopes,betrayed trust,shattered dreams, broken homes,conflicts,disappointments.
In all of this,NEVER GIVE UP!!!
Bear no grudges
Keep hatred out of your heart and your life
Love generously,expecting nothing in return
Believe in your dreams and live your DREAM
Do what you love doing and LAUGH as much as you can
Nobody can ever be you
You are a unique creation
Never be afraid to cry
Never be afraid of going slowly
Be only afraid of standing still
Inside you is a STRENGTH so rare,so profound,so beautiful
Always keep this in mind;
When your mind says give up,HOPE whispers one more try.
